UTA and EECO Sign Agreement to Advance U-Tapao Airport City PPP with NTP Expected in February
UTA and EECO have signed a memorandum to progress the U-Tapao Airport City PPP project, aiming to attract global investors and enhance tourism in Thailand. This marks the fourth signing in five and a half years, following previous delays.
Initial development on approximately 6,500 rai is set to begin late this year, focusing on real estate to boost investor confidence. UTA will waive certain conditions related to the high-speed rail link under the PPP contract to facilitate project advancement.
A Notice to Proceed (NTP) is expected to be issued by EECO in February, allowing UTA to initiate the project timeline. Following the NTP, UTA will prioritize essential infrastructure and the Airport City component to increase passenger capacity and attract investments. Concurrently, the Royal Thai Navy is constructing a second runway, projected for completion by November 2028.
