Uttar Pradesh Government Faces Criticism Over Demolition Orders at Jauhar University
Chandra Shekhar Azad criticizes the UP government's demolition plans for Jauhar University, citing potential SC contempt. The Rampur Development Authority ordered the demolition of 38 buildings due to alleged violations of planning laws.

Chandra Shekhar Azad, chief of Bhim Army, condemned the Uttar Pradesh government for planning to demolish 38 structures at Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, asserting that this action could be seen as contempt of the Supreme Court. The Rampur Development Authority issued the order based on claims of non-compliance with approved building plans under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act.
Azad argued that the university should first be allowed to pursue legal remedies against the demolition order, which he described as a reflection of 'communal politics.' He noted the inconsistency in government actions toward educational institutions, highlighting that other universities have not faced similar demolitions. The case raises concerns over the state’s authority versus judicial oversight in urban planning.
