Uzbekistan Privatizes Housing and Utilities Management, Attracts Foreign Investment
Uzbekistan is transitioning apartment management and utilities to private firms, enhancing service quality and competition. This shift includes significant foreign investments in water, sewage, and heating services, aiming to modernize infrastructure and alleviate state budget pressure.

Uzbekistan is transferring control of housing management and utilities to private companies, aiming to improve service quality and reduce state budget burdens. Jalol Arashov, first deputy minister of construction and housing, stated that the management of apartment buildings will shift entirely to the private sector, although the legal framework's impact remains uncertain.
Additionally, foreign investments are being utilized to revamp centralized heating and water systems, including a $90 million project in Namangan with the UAE's Metito and a $1 billion wastewater treatment plant in Tashkent with TAQA Water. This initiative marks a critical step in integrating private capital into Uzbekistan's historically state-run sectors.
