Uzbekistan Proposes New Regulations for EV Charging Infrastructure Development
Uzbekistan aims to enhance its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, targeting 4,000 stations by 2026. The initiative includes new operational rules and technical standards for charging stations to promote the adoption of electric transport and reduce methane emissions.

Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy has proposed a draft to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure, with a goal of establishing 4,000 stations by 2026. The new regulations include allocating land for charging stations via electronic auctions at 50% of assessed value and setting technical standards such as a minimum distance of 20 kilometers between fast-charging stations on highways.
Additionally, up to five terminals may be installed per location based on electrical load. Mandatory inspections every two years and quality control measures will ensure safety and compliance. With the expected increase in EV usage, estimated methane savings could reach 600-800 million cubic meters annually by 2030, contributing to improved air quality and energy efficiency.
