Uzbekistan's Renewable Energy Generation Increases by 43% in Early 2026
Uzbekistan's solar and wind power plants generated over 2 billion kWh of electricity in early 2026, marking a 43% rise from the previous year. The Energy Ministry reported that as of March 20, total green energy output reached 2.0154 billion kWh, with solar plants contributing 959.2 million kWh and wind farms 1.0562 billion kWh. The country operates 15 solar and 5 wind power plants with a combined capacity of 5,582 MW, significantly boosting the renewable energy share in its energy mix.

In early 2026, Uzbekistan's solar and wind power generation exceeded 2 billion kWh, a 43% increase year-on-year. As of March 20, the total reached 2.0154 billion kWh, comprising 959.2 million kWh from solar and 1.0562 billion kWh from wind.
The nation has 15 solar and 5 wind power plants with a total capacity of 5,582 MW. Year-on-year growth is evident, with solar output rising from 434 million kWh in 2022 to 576.9 million kWh in 2023. The increase has saved 537 million cubic meters of natural gas and avoided over 1.158 million tonnes of emissions. Including hydropower, total generation reached 3.16 billion kWh, saving 839 million cubic meters of gas and reducing emissions by 1.808 million tonnes.
