Vale Base Metals Reports 6% Increase in Copper Reserves; 2026 Exploration Plans Announced
Vale Base Metals announced a 6% increase in copper mineral reserves and resources to 53 million tonnes in 2025, part of a broader strategy to expand its resource base by over 20% by 2027. This growth, alongside a 13% rise in nickel reserves, underscores the company's commitment to enhancing its production capabilities across its operations in Canada and Brazil.

Vale Base Metals (VBM) reported a 6% increase in copper mineral reserves and resources to 53 million tonnes for 2025. Nickel reserves and resources rose 13% to 14 million tonnes, with significant contributions from exploration activities in Brazil's Carajás District.
VBM plans to double its copper drilling intensity again in 2026, targeting over 120,000 meters to further expand resources through near-mine extensions and satellite deposits. The company's long-term strategy emphasizes sustainability and growth in both copper and nickel production, aiming to leverage existing infrastructure and improve resource confidence.
