Vehicle Factory Jabalpur Completes First Successful T-72 Tank Overhaul for Indian Army

DEFENSE

Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ) has successfully overhauled its first two T-72 tanks as part of a pilot project to enhance India's tank maintenance capabilities. This event, marked by a ceremony led by Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Aujla, highlights VFJ's role in supporting the Indian Army's operational needs.

The initiative responds to increased demand for tank maintenance, with VFJ now collaborating with Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) to strengthen the Army's sustainment infrastructure. Approved for pilot overhauls in 2025, VFJ adhered to the Army's technical specifications, showcasing its operational readiness.

The successful completion of this pilot not only validates VFJ's capabilities but also supports the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative in defense manufacturing. This development is expected to lead to larger overhaul contracts, improving the efficiency and resilience of India's defense ecosystem.
