Verde Clean Fuels, Inc. has announced the suspension of its Permian Basin project development due to changing market conditions, particularly increased demand for natural gas. The company had entered a joint development agreement in February 2024 with Cottonmouth Ventures, a subsidiary of Diamondback Energy, to create a natural gas-to-gasoline plant using Verde's STG+ technology.
A front-end engineering and design study was completed in December 2025. Verde will focus on other opportunities for its technology, while Cottonmouth remains a significant shareholder.
