Veteran Hunter Girdner Returns to Northwest Florida After Injuries in Operation Epic Fury in Iran
Hunter Girdner, a veteran and defense contractor, was critically injured during Operation Epic Fury in Iran. He returned to Northwest Florida after treatment at Walter Reed Hospital. Girdner, who previously served six years in the U.S. military, sustained severe injuries, including permanent shrapnel and multiple surgeries, while attempting to rescue a teammate during an attack. Despite his injuries, all crew members survived. A homecoming event is planned to celebrate his return.

After 11 days in the ICU at Walter Reed Hospital, he returned home to a community celebration. Girdner aims to pursue a master's degree in software engineering to continue serving the country.
