Viasat and QEST Collaborate on Dual X/Ka-Band Airborne Antenna for Defense Connectivity
Viasat and QEST are collaborating to develop a dual X-band and Ka-band airborne antenna system to enhance multi-band connectivity for defense operations. The integration aims to evolve Viasat's Hybrid SATCOM Approach (HSA) system, allowing operators to select between Ku/Ka or X/Ka configurations. This partnership will assess technical integration and operational concepts for a terminal capable of accessing military X-band and Ka-band services.

Viasat and QEST are collaborating to enhance airborne connectivity for defense operations through a next-generation dual X-band and Ka-band antenna system. The collaboration aims to integrate QEST's X-band technology into Viasat's existing Global Aero Terminal (GAT) 5530.
This integration seeks to create an X/Ka multi-band terminal, providing improved mission assurance and operational flexibility for fixed-wing aircraft. The partnership will explore technical integration paths, operational concepts, and customer use cases. While the agreement is non-binding, it establishes a long-term collaboration focused on future developments and manufacturing for the European defense market.
