Vice President Visits 25 MW Gas Power Plant in Nias to Ensure Electricity Supply Ahead of Holidays
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the 25 megawatt (MW) Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) in Gunungsitoli, North Sumatra, to ensure reliable electricity supply in the Nias Islands ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations. This visit followed his review of the New Electricity Connection Assistance Program in Hilisebua village, part of President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to ensuring reliable and sustainable basic services for island communities.
Upon arrival, he was welcomed by local officials and received a briefing on the plant's operations, including the gas terminal system and liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification process. The Vice President emphasized the importance of maintaining electrical system reliability to meet the increasing electricity demand during festive seasons. He expressed hope that efforts to ensure a reliable and sustainable electrical system would positively impact regional development and improve public services and quality of life in island areas.
