Vietnam and Canada are set to deepen their economic and trade relations, with bilateral trade expected to reach $8.6 billion by 2025. The two nations are coordinating efforts on the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement and supporting each other in regional cooperation mechanisms.
Vietnam and Canada aim to strengthen their economic and trade ties further, with bilateral trade projected to reach $8.6 billion by 2025, reflecting an 18.8% increase year-on-year. During a meeting on May 11, Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung and Canadian Ambassador Jim Nickel discussed the positive trajectory of their relations and the importance of supply chain connectivity amidst global trade uncertainties.
Both nations are collaborating on the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (ACAFTA), targeting a conclusion in 2026. They agreed to hold the third meeting of the Vietnam-Canada Joint Economic Committee and a business forum in June 2026. Enhanced cooperation could provide significant benefits in trade and investment, bolstering Vietnam's role in global supply chains.
