Vietnam Government Approves Atomic Energy Development Strategy Through 2035
Vietnam's Government has approved a strategy for developing atomic energy for peaceful purposes until 2035, with a vision for 2050. Key targets include completing the Ninh Thuan 1 and Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plants by 2035 and deploying at least one Small Modular Reactor. By 2050, nuclear power is expected to provide 6-8% of national electricity output. The strategy also emphasizes medical applications, aiming to enhance radiation infrastructure and expand cancer treatment access across the country.

By 2050, nuclear energy is projected to contribute 6-8% of the national electricity supply. Additionally, the strategy focuses on medical and industrial uses of radiation, targeting a modern medical radiation infrastructure, including 20 CT scanners and 10 MRI machines per million people, and enhancing access to cancer diagnosis and treatment nationwide.
