Vietnam-Korea Energy Cooperation Advances with Strategic Partnerships
Vietnam and South Korea are expanding their energy cooperation into clean energy, high-tech, and financial sectors, moving beyond traditional areas. Petrovietnam is pivotal in this transition, establishing strategic partnerships to enhance energy security and sustainable development.

Vietnam's Petrovietnam and South Korea are advancing energy collaboration, emphasizing three strategic pillars: development of core energy sectors such as nuclear, LNG, and offshore wind; value chain and industrial ecosystem cooperation; and technology exchange and human resource training. Recent agreements, including those signed on April 22, involve major South Korean firms like KEPCO and SK Innovation, focusing on nuclear training and renewable energy investment.
Notably, a 2024 memorandum with K-SURE aims to bolster financial support for key projects. This shift signals a transition from individual projects to a comprehensive energy ecosystem, aligning with Vietnam's goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
