Vietnam Plans to Boost Imports from the US to Strengthen Trade Relations
Vietnam has expressed its intention to enhance imports from the United States, focusing on machinery, equipment, and high-tech products. This announcement was made by Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung during a roundtable with the US-ASEAN Business Council on February 2, coinciding with the sixth round of negotiations for a reciprocal trade agreement. Vietnam aims for a balanced trade relationship, highlighting recent aircraft purchases from Boeing and emphasizing energy cooperation, particularly in liquefied natural gas and renewable sources.

Vietnam is ready to increase imports from the United States, as stated by Acting Minister of Industry and Trade Le Manh Hung on February 2 during discussions with the US-ASEAN Business Council. The focus is on machinery, equipment, and high-tech products.
Recent large aircraft contracts, including VietJet's order for 200 Boeing planes and Vietnam Airlines' purchase of 50, exemplify efforts to create a balanced trade relationship. Energy security is another priority, with liquefied natural gas identified as a transitional energy source. Vietnam is committed to long-term cooperation with US firms in industrial sectors and aims to enhance its digital economy and technology infrastructure.
