Vietnam's E10 Biofuel Initiative to Boost Ethanol Market and Agricultural Demand
The E10 biofuel rollout in Vietnam is projected to create a VNĐ20 trillion ($760 million) market for ethanol, significantly increasing the demand for cassava and agricultural by-products. The initiative aims to enhance sustainable feedstock production and improve rural livelihoods through strategic investments in processing and infrastructure.

Vietnam's implementation of E10 biofuel, blending 90% gasoline with 10% ethanol, is set to create a substantial ethanol market worth approximately VNĐ20 trillion by 2025. The Ministry of Agriculture plans to maintain cassava-growing areas between 480,000 and 510,000 hectares while enhancing yields to meet the anticipated demand, expected to reach one million cubic meters annually.
Currently, Vietnam has 517,000 hectares of cassava, producing 10.5 million tonnes annually. The initiative promotes investment in processing plants and infrastructure to support sustainable agricultural practices, potentially generating over VNĐ10 trillion in revenue for feedstock producers. With a focus on reducing dependence on raw cassava exports, this program could diversify market demand and enhance the agriculture sector's economic stability.
