Vimag Labs Secures Patent for Electric Motor Technology
Vimag Labs has obtained an Indian patent for its software-defined, magnet-free electric motor technology, crucial for reducing reliance on rare-earth materials. The patented platform is expected to advance commercial deployments in electric mobility, including applications in two-wheelers and passenger vehicles.

Vimag Labs has secured a patent for its Virtual Magnet Synchronous Motor (VMSM) platform, enhancing its intellectual property with a total of five granted patents. The platform utilizes software-controlled magnetic fields to substitute traditional rare-earth magnets, aiming to mitigate reliance on critical mineral supply chains.
Current pilot projects are underway with two-wheeler and passenger vehicle manufacturers, with plans to extend the technology to light commercial and industrial applications. The company is also assessing potential uses in robotics and defense. The patent's development involved over 87,600 engineering hours, indicating significant investment in the technology's commercial viability.
