The Virginia Solar project, a 240MW photovoltaic facility in South Africa's Free State Province, has received financing from FirstRand Bank, with advisory from Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa. Selected as the preferred bidder under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme (REIPPPP), the project will develop and operate to supply clean electricity to Eskom under a Power Purchase Agreement. This initiative, alongside the Doornhoek PV project, will increase the national grid's capacity by 360MW, marking a significant step in South Africa's renewable energy sector.
