Volkswagen de México Achieves 83% CO₂ Emission Reduction and Expands Renewable Energy Use
Volkswagen de México has reduced CO₂ emissions by 83% since 2010 and achieved 88.5% renewable energy usage in its operations. The company’s sustainability initiatives include process electrification, a fully electric painting facility, and supply chain sustainability assessments. Volkswagen aims for carbon neutrality at its Mexican plants by 2040 and has set a goal to reintegrate production waste by 2030. Their efforts have garnered recognition in various sustainability rankings and include community programs to enhance education and biodiversity.

Volkswagen de México has cut CO₂ emissions by 83% since 2010 and achieved 88.5% renewable energy usage, mainly from wind. Key initiatives include a fully electric painting facility at the Puebla plant, eliminating natural gas use and reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 29,000 tons annually.
The company also modernized infrastructure for energy efficiency and implemented sustainability assessments for its suppliers. By 2030, Volkswagen aims to reintegrate production waste into manufacturing.
Community programs support education and biodiversity. The company produced 335,716 vehicles in Puebla and plans for carbon neutrality by 2040.
