WA Government Allocates $6.5M for Space Sector Development
The Cook Labor Government of Western Australia has announced a funding allocation of $6.5 million for the AROSE consortium and Curtin University’s Binar Space Program. This investment aims to enhance the state's capabilities in the space industry over the next four years.

A total of $6.5 million has been allocated to the Australian Remote Operations for Space and Earth (AROSE) consortium and Curtin University's Binar Space Program, with $4 million designated for AROSE and $2.5 million for Curtin University. The funding, part of the 2026-27 State Budget, will be distributed over the next four years.
The Binar Space Program focuses on the design, development, and operation of small satellites, having launched four satellites since 2021, with three more planned for this year. This initiative also includes training for students at various educational levels. The funding supports ongoing projects across multiple sectors, including agriculture and defense, thereby reinforcing WA's position in the evolving space industry.
