Waterford Council Seeks €18 Million to Complete North Quays Development
Waterford City and County Council requires an additional €18 million to finalize the North Quays project, estimated at €232.8 million. The project, which began in 2018, is expected to open in 18 months if funding is secured.

The North Quays development in Waterford, with a total projected cost of €232.8 million, currently has €214.1 million secured, creating a shortfall of over €18 million. The council has received €207.4 million in government funding since 2022, along with an additional €6.7 million from the Department of Transport for flood defense works.
The CEO of the council, Seán McKeown, indicated ongoing discussions to secure the necessary funding. The project includes a transport hub, a sustainable bridge, office spaces, a hotel with 110 rooms, and more than 300 apartments, with full completion expected by 2030. The operational date for the transport bridge is anticipated for late next year.
