Wave-Op to Conduct Feasibility Study for Wave Energy System in Ferrol, Spain
Wave-Op has secured a European tender to assess the feasibility of deploying its wave energy system in Ferrol. This study aims to evaluate the potential of the outer port's wave energy resources and will span three months.

Wave-Op will conduct a feasibility study for its wave energy technology at the port of Ferrol, Spain, under a contract from the Autoridad Portuaria de Ferrol-San Cibrao. This project, part of the Enerports initiative funded by the EU's Interreg Atlantic Area program, focuses on aiding ports in energy transition, decarbonization, and digitization.
The company has developed the Dikwe wave energy system, which generates electricity using oscillating flaps integrated into a protective breakwater. A prototype with a total capacity of 360 kW is being installed in Boulogne-sur-Mer. The results could influence future developments in renewable energy technologies within port operations.
