WavEC Releases ORIOM Tool for Offshore Renewable Energy Installation and O&M Simulation
WavEC Offshore Renewables has announced the release of ORIOM, an open-source modeling tool for simulating installation and operations & maintenance (O&M) of offshore renewable energy projects, including wind and solar. Developed over the past decade, ORIOM aims to enhance transparency and reproducibility in analyses and is licensed under PolyForm Shield License 1.0.0.
WavEC Offshore Renewables has launched ORIOM, an open-source, Python-based modeling tool for simulating installation and O&M logistics and costs of offshore renewable energy projects. ORIOM encompasses fixed-bottom offshore wind, floating wind, wave energy, and floating solar.
Developed over the last ten years, the tool aims to improve transparency and peer review in analyses, released under the PolyForm Shield License 1.0.0. The focus on installation and maintenance, critical cost factors in offshore projects, is emphasized to ensure early attention during project development, impacting the levelized cost of energy (LCOE).
