Way Kambas National Park Selected for Innovative Climate Financing Pilot Project
Way Kambas National Park has been designated as a pilot project for innovative climate financing, according to Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni. The project aims to create a sustainable financing system by integrating the private sector with conservation efforts, alongside state budget and NGO support. The Ministerial Regulation No. 27 of 2025 facilitates voluntary carbon market projects in national parks, allowing for biodiversity bonds and carbon credits to fund park operations and ecosystem restoration.

Way Kambas National Park has been chosen as a pilot for innovative climate financing. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni stated that national parks should not solely rely on the state budget or international NGO support, advocating for a blended finance approach that includes the private sector.
The issuance of Ministerial Regulation No. 27 of 2025 enables voluntary carbon market projects. The pilot will implement mechanisms such as biodiversity bonds and carbon credits, targeting ecotourism. The initiative aims to shift conservation management towards a model that includes green capital markets, focusing on the preservation of forests and biodiversity.
