West Africa Launches GIS Training for Biodiversity Conservation Efforts
A GIS training program in Abuja unites experts from 12 West African nations to enhance biodiversity mapping capabilities. This initiative supports the global '30 by 30' conservation target, critical for ecosystem preservation and sustainable development.

Experts from 12 West African countries are participating in a GIS training program in Abuja, aimed at enhancing biodiversity mapping. Supported by the Natural Resources Defense Council and the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, this initiative focuses on equipping countries with advanced GIS skills to monitor ecosystems and support conservation efforts.
The training aligns with the '30 by 30' target and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which seeks to conserve at least 30% of global ecosystems by 2030. Successful implementation could significantly improve regional conservation strategies, addressing biodiversity financing gaps and promoting sustainable development across West Africa.
