West Calcasieu Port Acquires 172 Acres to Enhance Marine Operations
The West Calcasieu Port has expanded its footprint by acquiring 172 acres along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, increasing its total area to nearly 400 acres. This acquisition, funded by a $750,000 grant and port reserves, is intended to support rising demand for marine transportation in conjunction with ongoing industrial projects in Southwest Louisiana.

On June 3, the West Calcasieu Port purchased 172 acres of waterfront property, funded by a $750,000 grant from the Louisiana Office of Facility Planning along with internal reserves. This acquisition aims to nearly double the port's available fleeting space, addressing critical needs for barge-fleeting accommodations and dredge spoils reception capabilities.
The port's expansion is strategically positioned to support the growing petrochemical and LNG industries in Southwest Louisiana, enhancing operational efficiency and marine infrastructure. Key tenants include Southern Devall Towing and Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, which provide essential services for the region's industrial growth.
