WM Launches $60 Million Recycling Facility in Indianapolis
WM has opened a 125,000 square-foot recycling facility in Indianapolis, aimed at processing 200,000 tons of recyclables annually. This investment is crucial for enhancing recycling infrastructure in Indiana and supports local manufacturing with high-quality recycled materials.

WM has inaugurated a new recycling facility in Indianapolis, spanning nearly 125,000 square feet, with an annual processing capacity of 200,000 tons of recyclables. This facility employs advanced technologies such as glass recovery equipment and optical sorters to improve recycling outcomes and support Indiana's circular economy.
The investment is part of WM's broader strategy to allocate over $1.4 billion for 39 recycling facilities across North America by 2027, which will enhance processing capacity by approximately 2.8 million tons per year. The facility aims to bolster local manufacturing by providing high-quality recycled feedstock, thus reinforcing supply chain resilience and promoting sustainable production practices. Potential risks include reliance on market demands for recycled materials and the challenge of managing contamination in recycling streams.
