X-energy and IHI Corporation Sign MOU to Enhance U.S.-Japan Supply Chain for Advanced SMR Development

FUSION & ADVANCED NUCLEAR POWER

X-energy and IHI Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance the U.S.-Japan supply chain for X-energy's Xe-100 advanced small modular reactor. This partnership seeks to enhance commercial-scale manufacturing of nuclear-grade components, aligning with U.S.-Japan industrial trade goals.

The collaboration focuses on expanding X-energy's supplier base for long-lead components as it addresses a 144-unit commercial orderbook. IHI's expertise in manufacturing safety-critical components for high-temperature gas-cooled reactors will support this initiative, integrating Japanese manufacturing capabilities into U.S. nuclear supply chain development. X-energy is working on over 11 GW of new nuclear capacity in the U.S. and U.K.
