Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation Reinforces Genoa Ties with New Container Ship
The arrival of the YM Willpower in Genoa signifies a renewal of Yang Ming's nearly 50-year relationship with the port. This event enhances both the shipping company's fleet modernization efforts and its commitment to sustainability through LNG propulsion.

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation's new container ship, YM Willpower, made its maiden call at Genoa's PSA terminal, marking a historic renewal of the company's nearly 50-year presence at the port, dating back to September 14, 1980. The YM Willpower, capable of carrying 15,600 TEU and equipped with dual-fuel LNG propulsion, is part of a fleet upgrade involving twelve new vessels ordered from South Korea, with delivery scheduled between 2026 and 2030.
The event highlights Genoa's strategic role in Asia-Europe shipping routes and Yang Ming's commitment to sustainability, aiming for zero CO2 emissions by 2050. The potential for LNG refueling in Genoa is being explored, reflecting a shift towards greener maritime solutions. Yang Ming currently holds a capacity of 725,000 TEU and plans to exceed one million TEU by 2032.
