Year-Long Roadwork on Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans for Natural Gas Upgrade
A year-long construction project on Tchoupitoulas Street in New Orleans will upgrade natural gas infrastructure, impacting traffic and pedestrians.

Delta Utilities has initiated a construction project along a six-block section of Tchoupitoulas Street, stretching between Notre Dame and Canal streets. The work, which began on a Monday, aims to replace aging infrastructure and is scheduled for completion by June of next year.
Throughout the project, at least one lane will remain open, although there will be intermittent lane closures, limited parking, and restricted pedestrian access. Construction will occur mainly on sidewalks and parking lanes, with crews operating up to six days a week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Work will pause during the Mardi Gras season. Natural gas services will remain unaffected during this period.
