Yobe State Government Relocates Street Traders to Ibrahim Geidam Modern Market in Damaturu

The Yobe State government is relocating street traders to the Ibrahim Geidam Modern Market in Damaturu to enhance order and safety. Led by Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), the initiative aims to address issues like traffic congestion and security risks associated with roadside trading.

A Joint Task Force, including the Army, Police, and DSS, is supporting the enforcement of this initiative. A Mobile and Revenue Court has been established to ensure compliance and manage legal matters related to the relocation.

The government emphasizes cooperation with traders, who are increasingly recognizing the dangers of roadside trading. Governor Mai Mala Buni's leadership supports reforms for urban beautification and investment attraction. A four-month monitoring period is ongoing, encouraging community participation in the urban renewal process.
