DEFENSE

Yorkshire Air Ambulance pilots Owen McTeggart and Garry Brasher have each achieved over 6,000 flying hours, a rare milestone in Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) operations. Both pilots, who began their aviation careers in the British Army, have extensive experience in high-pressure air ambulance missions.

McTeggart joined YAA in 2012, while Brasher has been with the charity for 13 years, making him the longest-serving pilot. Their achievement was celebrated at the YAA's Nostell Air Base. The pilots focus on maintaining safety standards and mentoring new crews.

YAA provides emergency medical services across Yorkshire, operational 365 days a year, with trauma patients transported at speeds up to 160mph. Looking ahead, both pilots aim to support future pilots while prioritizing safe flying.
