Zambia Approves 103 Projects for Green Growth and Sustainability
The Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) has approved 103 projects aimed at enhancing sustainability and advancing a circular economy. This strategic move is crucial for promoting climate action and resource efficiency in Zambia.

During the May 2026 session of the Environmental Assessments Committee, ZEMA approved 103 out of 106 proposed projects. These include 300 Mega Watts of solar energy initiatives, a Plastic Manufacturing and Recycling Plant, and a Tile Adhesive Manufacturing Plant in Lusaka.
A Used Oil and End-of-Life Tyres Recycling Plant will be established in Kyangozhi, North-Western Province, converting hazardous waste into industrial fuel oil. Additionally, the rehabilitation of 65km of the Chipata-Chadiza Road aims to enhance climate resilience.
Project approvals reflect a commitment to climate action and resource efficiency across various sectors, including Mining, Manufacturing, Infrastructure, Energy, Agriculture, and Tourism. The focus on environmental safeguards raises potential for increased investment and sustainable development in the region.
