ZeroAvia Adjusts ZA600 Certification Timeline Following Workforce Reduction
ZeroAvia has reduced its workforce by approximately 50%, adapting its development plans due to funding constraints. The company now aims for certification of its fuel cell system by 2027, delaying the full ZA600 powertrain certification by 12-24 months.
The layoffs affected teams in Washington, US, and the UK, including key executives. The company plans to prioritize the fuel cell module for commercial viability and has pushed back the ZA2000 system timeline to the early 2030s. Despite financial challenges, ZeroAvia continues work on its electric propulsion system and aims to relocate fuel cell production to a new site near Glasgow, Scotland, with full-rate output expected by 2028.
