£2.5 Million Upgrade to Lowestoft Substation Enhances Power Supply for 15,000 Homes
A £2.5 million upgrade to the electricity substation in Lowestoft has been completed, benefiting nearly 15,000 homeowners. The project involved constructing a new switch house and installing modern 33,000-volt switchgear over 18 months. The upgrade aims to improve reliability and stability of power supplies in the area, supporting future demand for green energy, electric vehicles, and heat pumps.

The £2.5 million upgrade to the Lowestoft substation has been completed, enhancing the electricity network for approximately 15,000 residents. Over 18 months, a new switch house was constructed, and modern 33,000-volt switchgear was installed, replacing two circuit breakers with seven for better power flow management.
The project aims to improve reliability and stability of power supplies, supporting future demands for green energy and electric vehicles. The upgrade is expected to deliver long-lasting benefits to the community.
