51 South Korean Lawmakers to Discuss Korean Peninsula KTX Rail Network for Balanced Growth
On February 12, 51 South Korean lawmakers, including Cho Kye-won and Park Hee-seung, will hold a discussion at the National Assembly Library on the Korean Peninsula KTX rail network and national balanced growth. The forum aims to propose a route connecting key areas including Yongin's semiconductor cluster and southern coastal tourism hubs, advocating for its inclusion in the 5th National Railway Network Plan (2026-2035). If realized, travel time between Seoul and Yeosu could be reduced to under two hours, enhancing economic connectivity.

On February 12, 2026, at 1 PM, 51 lawmakers, including Cho Kye-won and Park Hee-seung, will hold a discussion on the Korean Peninsula KTX rail network at the National Assembly Library. The proposed route connects South Seoul (Yangjae) to Yeosu, aiming to reduce travel time from around three hours to under two.
The forum, organized by the Democratic Party's Special Committee on Balanced National Growth, seeks to advocate for this line's inclusion in the upcoming 5th National Railway Network Plan (2026-2035). Discussions will involve experts and government officials, focusing on the economic benefits of the proposed high-speed rail line linking semiconductor and tourism hubs.
