GEOTHERMAL

The ACT Government is seeking a contractor for the $137.8 million Canberra Aquatic Centre, planned for Commonwealth Park, with a target completion in 2027. The project, funded jointly by the ACT and Commonwealth governments, will employ the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model.

The successful contractor will handle design development, construction planning, and submit Works Approval to the National Capital Authority. The initial contract is expected to be awarded by mid-2026, with construction contracts finalized in December 2026.

The Aquatic Centre will replace the old Canberra Olympic Pool, featuring a 50-meter pool, program pool, and family-friendly amenities. It aims for a minimum 5 Star Green Star rating, potentially reaching six stars for energy efficiency, and may utilize geothermal energy. The facility will support various activities and connect with surrounding infrastructure projects, including light rail Stage 2A.
