Adani Energy Secures Long-Term Green Loan from MUFG and SMBC for HVDC Project

POWER GRIDS & TRANSMISSION

Adani Energy Solutions has secured long-term financing from a consortium of Japanese banks, led by MUFG Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), for a 950-km HVDC transmission project connecting Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The project will have a capacity to evacuate 6,000 MW of renewable energy and is set to be commissioned by 2029.

It will utilize Hitachi Energy's technology in collaboration with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The funding aligns with AESL's sustainable debt framework, allowing it to be classified as a Green Loan. This initiative supports India's renewable energy integration and reflects the strengthening India-Japan partnership.
