Amari Power Transmission Project in Uganda Achieves Financial Close as Africa's First Independent Transmission Project
The Amari Power Transmission project in Uganda has reached financial close, developed by Gridworks with the Government of Uganda and UETCL. It will upgrade four high-voltage substations, enhancing electricity reliability for industrial users and supporting economic growth. Construction begins with Siemens Energy as the EPC contractor, and commissioning is expected in 2028.

The Amari Power Transmission project in Uganda has achieved financial close, marking it as Africa's first independent transmission project. Developed by Gridworks in partnership with the Government of Uganda and the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), the project will enhance the capacity of four high-voltage substations on Uganda's national grid.
It aims to improve electricity reliability for industrial users, facilitate additional generation integration, and prepare the network for regional power trade. Siemens Energy has been appointed as the EPC contractor, with construction set to commence and commissioning expected in 2028. The project aligns with Uganda's goals to boost manufacturing competitiveness and economic growth.
