Ameren Illinois is constructing the Stilleys transmission substation and upgrading the existing Crab Orchard facility to enhance electric reliability in Williamson County. The Stilleys substation will manage high-voltage electricity and is set for completion by May 2026.

This project aims to meet increasing energy demands linked to regional economic development. Alongside the new substation, the Crab Orchard facility will receive upgrades, including a new power line connecting both sites. These improvements will provide greater flexibility and resilience for the regional electric grid.
