Andritz and RAG Austria Initiate Construction of 12.5MW Green Hydrogen Plant
The construction of a 12.5MW green hydrogen facility in Gampern, Austria, has commenced, with operations anticipated by late 2026. This plant aims to produce over 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, supporting local energy companies and enhancing renewable energy storage solutions.

Andritz and RAG Austria have broken ground on a 12.5MW green hydrogen plant in Gampern, Austria, projected to be operational by late 2026. The facility aims to produce more than 1,500 tonnes of green hydrogen each year, utilizing solar power for seasonal energy storage.
Energy providers EVN, Energie, Kelag, Linz, and Salzburg have already reserved electrolysis capacities. Andritz will deliver engineering, procurement, and construction services for the hydrogen systems, although the specific electrolyser manufacturer remains unconfirmed.
This initiative supports energy resilience by converting surplus renewable energy into hydrogen, which can then be stored and used during periods of low renewable output. The project aligns with Europe's goal of local hydrogen production to ensure energy supply stability.
