A.P. Moller-Maersk Receives Final Vessel in Methanol Ship Series in South Korea

METHANOL

A.P. Moller-Maersk has received Barcelona Mærsk, the final vessel in its 17,480-TEU dual-fuel methanol container ship series, at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, South Korea. This delivery brings Maersk's total to around 19 methanol-capable ships.

The vessel features an eight-cylinder MAN B&W dual-fuel engine and two methanol fuel tanks with a total capacity of 16,000 cubic metres, allowing a range of up to 23,000 nautical miles. Maersk aims for a 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions using green methanol and targets net-zero emissions by 2040.
