Apex Securities Elevates Malaysia's 2026 Export Growth Forecast to 16.3% Due to E&E Sector Strength
Apex Securities Bhd has adjusted Malaysia's 2026 export growth projection to 16.3% YoY, up from 8.1%, driven by a robust E&E sector. The electrical and electronic industry, comprising 48% of total exports, is bolstered by increasing semiconductor applications in AI and EVs.

Apex Securities Bhd has increased its 2026 export growth forecast for Malaysia to 16.3% YoY from a previous estimate of 8.1%. This revision follows a strong year-to-date growth of 24.3% and a surge of 45.3% YoY in exports during May.
The electrical and electronic (E&E) sector is expected to maintain its momentum, supported by the Semiconductor Industry Association's revised global sales projection of US$1.5 trillion in 2026. However, potential moderation in export growth is anticipated in the latter half of 2026 due to diminishing frontloaded demand. Key risks include uncertainties in U.S. trade policy and the US-Iran agreement, which may affect global trade dynamics.
