Appalachian Power Company will conduct an open house on March 18 at 5 p.m. to discuss proposed transmission upgrades in Huntington, part of the Darrah-Barnett Transmission Line Rebuild Project. The project will rebuild about 3 miles of 69-kilovolt transmission line and upgrade Barnett and West Huntington substations to enhance capacity and reliability.

Following public feedback, the project team will propose a final route in spring. Approval from the Public Service Commission of West Virginia is anticipated this summer, with construction scheduled for fall 2028 to spring 2029. Affected landowners will receive project details by mail.
