Army Intervention Planned Amid Fuel Protests in Limerick
The Irish government plans to deploy military forces to address ongoing fuel blockages in Co. Limerick. Protests have persisted for three days, impacting critical infrastructure and prompting calls for action from officials.

The Irish Justice Minister, Jim O'Callaghan, confirmed military deployment to alleviate disruptions caused by fuel protests in Foynes, Co. Limerick. Eoin Coffey, an independent agricultural contractor, criticized this action as a misuse of defense resources, asserting that the military's role should be to protect citizens, not multinationals.
Limerick minister Patrick O'Donovan expressed that the time for protests has ended and urged individuals to return home, citing the need to uphold road traffic laws. The ongoing situation raises concerns about the balance between public order and the right to protest amidst critical infrastructure challenges.
