Bangchak Group Supplies HEFA-SPK SAF to Thai Airways in Landmark Collaboration
Bangchak Group and Thai Airways have successfully executed the first supply of sustainably produced HEFA-SPK SAF for a Thai Airways flight. This initiative marks a pivotal step in Thailand's efforts to reduce aviation-related greenhouse gas emissions and transition toward sustainable energy sources.

Bangchak Group has delivered Thailand-produced HEFA-SPK sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Thai Airways for flight TG 409 from Bangkok to Singapore, marking the first such supply in the country. The SAF was produced at Bangchak's newly operational facility, which began commercial production in May 2026, with a capacity of one million litres per day, primarily using used cooking oil.
The SAF can achieve up to an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional aviation fuel and complies with ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU standards. This partnership aims to bolster Thailand's aviation industry's sustainability, increase job creation, and enhance energy security. However, achieving widespread SAF adoption will require clear government policies and market demand visibility to ensure confidence among producers and users.
