BillerudKorsnäs and Viken Skog Joint Venture for Pulp Production at Follum Mill
BillerudKorsnäs and Viken Skog are initiating a joint venture to assess bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp production. The feasibility study is set to conclude in the first half of 2023, with potential investments of 600-800 MNOK.

BillerudKorsnäs and Viken Skog are collaborating to evaluate the establishment of a production line for bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) at the Follum mill in Hønefoss. The feasibility study will be completed by mid-2023, determining the viability of producing up to 200 kt/a of BCTMP.
If approved, BillerudKorsnäs's investment will range from 600-800 MNOK. The existing infrastructure at Follum and its access to sustainable wood supply enhance the project's feasibility. This partnership may lead to a long-term wood supply agreement and further exploration of biogas production and carbon capture capabilities, indicating a strategic move towards sustainable operations.
