Birmingham Secures $2M Grant for Logistics and Manufacturing Development at Ensley Works and Birmingport
Birmingham, Alabama, has received a $2 million grant under the SEEDS Act to develop a logistics and manufacturing center at the Ensley Works and Birmingport sites. The initiative aims to prepare the Western Corridor for future industrial growth, enhancing site readiness for high-quality job creation. In 2024, Alabama Power will construct a transmission substation at Ensley Works, and a 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse was opened at Birmingport terminal last year.

Birmingham, Alabama, has been awarded a $2 million economic development grant to establish a logistics and manufacturing center in the Western area of the city, focusing on the Ensley Works and Birmingport sites. This funding is part of the state's SEEDS Act program and aims to support long-term economic growth.
As part of the initiative, Alabama Power will begin constructing a transmission substation at the Ensley Works site in 2024. Additionally, a 25,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility was opened at the Birmingport terminal last year through a collaboration of local and state entities.
