BMW Group Moves Recycling Centre to Wackersdorf, Establishes Competence Centre for Circularity
The BMW Group is relocating its Recycling and Dismantling Centre from Unterschleißheim to Wackersdorf, establishing a Competence Centre for Circularity. The new facility, set to open in early 2029, will enhance vehicle dismantling and recycling processes, focusing on resource efficiency and the circular economy. The project aims to reduce reliance on primary raw materials and lower vehicle carbon footprints through the use of secondary materials. The existing facility will remain operational until the move is completed.

The BMW Group is relocating its Recycling and Dismantling Centre (RDC) to Wackersdorf, creating a Competence Centre for Circularity scheduled for commissioning in early 2029. This facility will advance vehicle dismantling and recycling, aiming to enhance resource efficiency and support the circular economy.
Key activities will include recycling hydrogen vehicles and developing innovative technologies. The existing RDC in Unterschleißheim will continue operations until the relocation is complete.
