BYT Capital is launching a ₹180-crore fund to invest in early-stage deep-tech startups in India, emphasizing sectors like space-tech, synthetic biology, semiconductors, and robotics. The firm plans to make 18-20 investments over four years, primarily in hardware, highlighting the importance of intellectual property (IP) for innovation and competitiveness. Current investments include VyomIC, Peptris, and Octobotics. Patent filings in India have surged from 3,500 in 2015 to nearly 88,000 in 2024.

BYT Capital is establishing a ₹180-crore fund to invest in India's deep-tech startups, focusing on sectors such as space-tech, synthetic biology, semiconductors, and robotics. The firm plans to make 18-20 investments over four years, starting with ₹3-4 crore at the pre-seed to seed stage and following up with ₹16-18 crore based on milestones.
A significant portion of the fund will target hardware to boost domestic manufacturing and intellectual property (IP) development. Current investments include VyomIC, Peptris, and Octobotics. Patent filings in India have risen from approximately 3,500 in 2015 to nearly 88,000 in 2024, indicating a growing emphasis on IP.
